This guide, which offers pilgrims the chance to walk from Arles to Compostela, crosses the whole of Catalonia (first passing through Narbonne and Perpignan) to the banks of the Ebro, following a signposted path officially known as the Camino Catalan (or Cami Sant Jaume). It then takes the equally official and signposted Camino de l'Ebre , leading to the town of Logrono, where the famous Camino Francès, the Way of the Ways leading to Compostela, passes through. This route was once taken by Francis of Assisi. We wanted to "innovate" by imagining, at the start of the route, an unmarked, off-piste route, skirting the Mediterranean as closely as possible. Let it be said that the commonplace nature of the Jacobean paths is not the order of the day here. Adventure and uncertainty will be walking companions. Long stages, relatively little accommodation, new landscapes, modest numbers of visitors, a rich heritage.
A 1000 km break with the norm! To rediscover the pioneering spirit of the Camino de Compostela as it was "rediscovered" in the 1980s.
