Welcome to your guide to the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela.
Here you'll find everything you need to prepare for your journey, thanks to the experience of former pilgrims.
From obtaining your Compostela certificate in Santiago, we're with you every step of the way.
Prepare, explore and share...
Your Camino to Santiago de Compostela starts here.
Les Amis de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle, your travelling companions.
Whether you're on the threshold of this adventure, already on your way to Compostela, or looking for post-pilgrimage reflections, here you'll find valuable resources and a support network to enlighten your path and your reflections.
1. Delivery of the Credencial
Your passport to Santiago de Compostela.
The Credencial is much more than just a document: it's the pilgrim's passport to Santiago ,
essential for accessing pilgrim accomodation like albergues and obtaining the Compostela.
Our association is authorized by the Chapter of Santiago Cathedral to provide the Credencial free of charge to its members who have paid their annual dues.
This is the first step in starting your pilgrimage.
Every first Thursday of the month, join us in Brussels (Jette) for an information session on the pilgrimage to Compostela. Free admission from 6:30 p.m., no registration required.
The meeting is based on a slideshow that attempts, in one hour, to answer all the questions that future pilgrims initially ask themselves. Afterwards, you can meet experienced pilgrims to ask them your questions and fine-tune your preparations. You can also join our association, request a pilgrim's credential or browse and purchase books from our bookshop.
Feel free to come back as many times as you like!
We also hold these meetings regularly throughout Wallonia and the Brussels Region.
3. Signposting paths in Belgium
A safe
and well signposted itinerary.
An experienced team is responsible for the maintenance and signposting of the routes in Belgium, Brussels and the Walloon Region, and collaborates on the publication of new topoguides.
Our commitment guarantees well signposted and safe routes for all pilgrims, making your journey to Santiago easier.
Elsewhere in Europe, the signposting teams of our sister associations ensure similar signposting.
Our host chains are a vital network for pilgrims passing through our regions.
Growing every day, they offer a warm welcome and accommodation in a spirit of hospitality, conviviality and sharing.
5. Bookshop - for books purchase
Guides and readings for the pilgrim...
Our bookshop offers a selection of topoguides and books on the history of pilgrimage, the study of the Jacobean phenomenon and pilgrims' tales.
It's the ideal place to find the essential guides to prepare and accompany your journey.
Our documentation center hosts over 600 books and several hundred magazines, most of them published by other Jacobean associations.
The library, which is open several days a monthly at the Hôpital Saint-Jacques in Le Roeulx, is a valuable resource for those wishing to deepen their knowledge of the history and heritage of the Compostellan pilgrimage.
7. Le Pecten
Our news magazine on
the association's news.
We publish “Le Pecten”, a quarterly magazine packed with articles, announcements and pilgrimage stories.
It's an essential means of keeping in touch with the association's activities, discovering testimonials from former pilgrims, the Jacobean routes of Belgium and Europe, summaries of Jacobean studies and reports on Jacobean events.
