Description: Procession of Our Lady of the Fountain – Chièvres
The Via TENERA offers two places of pilgrimage to Our Lady around Chièvres that pilgrims in the Middle Ages undoubtedly visited. These are the Basilica of Tongre-Notre-Dame and the Chapel of Our Lady of the Fountain in Chièvres.
Pilgrim’s Day, organised by the parish of Chièvres, features a
procession starting from the Chapel of Our Lady of the Fountain and heading towards the Chapel of Saint John.
It is an opportunity to commemorate and invoke Saint James, by including him in the procession. Furthermore, for pilgrims setting out on their journey, it is an opportunity to receive the pilgrims’ blessing.
