Description: Cistercian Abbey of Villers-la-Ville
17km – a route over hill and dale
The route offers a varied landscape that showcases idyllic, wooded and rural scenery. During the walk, we will have the chance to catch a glimpse of the jewel of Villers-la-Ville: its Cistercian Abbey, built in the 12th and 13th centuries. Since 1992, the Abbey has been listed as part of Wallonia’s exceptional heritage. The entire site has been preserved: its 50,000 m² of preserved above-ground walls and 5,000 m² of Romanesque and Gothic vaults make it one of the largest archaeological complexes in Belgium.
